Integrated Management System

Customer requirements, both national and international, are constantly increasing. They are not satisfied with just a good product. Customers expect a guarantee covering the full product manufacturing cycle and the implementation of modern business management methodologies. A strategic approach to sustainable development and corporate social responsibility requires our Company to take an integrated approach to achieving economic efficiency, energy efficiency, meeting customer expectations and responsibility for employee safety, environmental protection and the socio-economic environment.

In order to meet the expectations of customers and other interested parties, in 1997 our company obtained a quality management system certificate in compliance with the requirements of the ISO 9002 standard. In 2003, we were awarded the certificate of the integrated quality and safety management system (in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001 and PN-N-18001), while in 2005 we were awarded the certificate of the integrated quality  , safety and environment management  system  (confirming compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001, PN-N-18001 and ISO 14001).  

The integrated management system certificates were awarded to our Company over the following years. Certificates are currently in place to confirm compliance with the requirements of the standards: ISO 9001:2015 (for the quality area), ISO 45001:2018 (for the safety area) and ISO 14001:2015 (for the environmental area).

In 2021, the Company expanded the scope of its integrated management system by obtaining an energy management system certificate confirming compliance with the requirements of ISO 50001:2018.

Since 1994 Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. has participated in the Odpowiedzialność i Troska®(Responsible Care®) programme, the idea of which is a voluntary commitment by the chemicals industry to improve its operations in the following areas: environmental protection, health protection and process safety. Our Company has once again been awarded the certificate confirming implementation of the Responsible Care Management Framework System, compliant with the guidelines of the European Chemical Industry Council and the principles and criteria approved by the Polish Chamber of Chemical Industry.

In 2006, the Laboratory Services Unit (now the Research and Innovation Department), successfully underwent the accreditation process and was awarded a Certificate of Accreditation of Testing Laboratory for compliance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025. The certificate currently held confirms compliance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2018.

Since 2014, Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. has held a PRODUCT STEWARDSHIP CERTIFICATE confirming compliance with the requirements of the Fertilizers Europe Product Stewardship Standard.

Since 2016, our Company has had a maintenance process management system based on the Total Productive Maintenance TPM and Preventive Maintenance PM programmes.

The integrated management system at Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. is based on the principles of customer priority, continuous improvement and a process approach. The following processes were identified: management, main and support processes and their sequence and mutual relationships were determined (documented in the Process Map of Azoty ZAK S.A. Group). The integrated management system operating within the company is described in the Book of the Integrated Management System of Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. and in IMS documents.

The top management of Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. has defined the Integrated Management System Policy for Grupa Azoty Zakłady Azotowe Kędzierzyn S.A., the Energy Policy for Grupa Azoty Zakłady Azotowe Kędzierzyn S.A., the Product Care Programme Policy for Grupa Azoty Zakłady Azotowe Kędzierzyn S.A. and general objectives for the following management areas: quality, safety, environmental protection and energy. The defined objectives are measurable, a deadline is set for their achievement and a person responsible for implementation is identified. The objectives are consistent with the aforementioned Policies and serve to continually improve the Company's operations. The degree of achievement and timeliness of objectives are evaluated during management reviews by top management.

The Chief Executive Officer shall provide the resources necessary to implement the aforementioned Policies, to maintain and continually improve the integrated management system and to achieve the objectives. These resources include the financial resources specified in the Tangible and Financial Plan of Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A., organisational and technical infrastructure and human resources.

Activities in all areas of the integrated management system are supported by the commitment of employees in every workplace. The personnel of Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. are striving to meet the challenges posed by the changing external environment by rationalising and innovating the resources used, enriching the company's operational profile, improving operating methods and the integrated management system in operation at Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A.

By establishing responsibility centres with the level of responsibility set appropriately managers gain a strategic-level clear image of the economic situation of the company, and the extent to which its potential is being used. The way the Company communicates involves a broad set of activities undertaken to identify, activate and ensure maximum use of communication channels oriented towards the Company's local environment. 
 
The objective of communication is to satisfy specific information needs effectively and create conscious and responsible attitudes towards the Company, its mission and image. The measures of good communication in Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. are quality, promptness and accessibility.
 
The Company communicates internally not only via vertical communication channels, but also  through placing great stress on both dialogue with its employees and on social aspects of Company life. One important feature of such communication is  open collaboration with the media and informing the public about  the Company's activities. Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. communicates its results to its Shareholders within the Grupa Azoty ZAK group. The company has its own Code of Ethics, which regulates standards of communication and cooperation with contracting parties and Grupa Azoty ZAK's external environment.

To meet these expectations, in 1997, our company obtained the quality management system certificate for compliance with the requirements of PN-EN ISO 9002. In 2003, we were granted the integrated management system certificate in terms of quality and safety (in accordance with the requirements of the following standards: PN-EN ISO 9001 and PN-N-18001), while in 2005 - the integrated management system certificate Quality* Occupational Health and Safety* Environment (confirming meeting the requirements of standards: PN-EN ISO 9001, PN-N-18001 and PN-EN ISO 14001).

The integrated management system certificates have been awarded to our company for the next years. Currently, the following are in force: the certificate confirming compliance with the requirements of standards: ISO 9001, PN-N-18001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 management system certificate.

Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. has been participated in the Responsible Care® program since 1994, which is the extension of the maintained integrated management system. The idea of the program is the voluntary commitment of the chemical industry to improve its operations in the areas of environmental protection, health care and process safety. Our company was once again granted the certificate confirming the implementation of the Responsible Care Framework Management System, in accordance with the guidelines of the European Chemical Industry Council and the principles and criteria approved by the Polish Chamber of Chemical Industry.

The integrated management system at Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. has been built based on the principle of customer priority treatment, continuous improvement and process approach. The following processes have been identified: management, main, supporting. The sequence and interrelations of the processes have been determined (documented in the Azoty ZAK SA Group processes map). The integrated management system functioning in the Company is described in the Book of the Integrated Management System of Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. and in the files placed in the electronic base available on the Intranet (IMS BASE).

Top management of Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. has determined the Policy of the Integrated Management System of Grupa Azoty Zakłady Azotowe Kędzierzyn S.A. and general purposes for management areas: quality, safety and environmental protection. The IMS policy is available on the Intranet in the tab DEPARTMENTS → Department of Management → Management Systems Office. The defined purposes are measurable, the implementation date is accepted and the person responsible for implementation is appointed. The purposes are consistent with the IMS Policy and serve continuous improvement of the Company's operations. The degree of implementation and validity of the purposes are assessed during management reviews by the top management.

The General Director provides funds necessary to implement the IMS Policy and to achieve the purposes. These funds include financial resources defined in the material and financial plan of Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A., organizational and technical infrastructure as well as human resources.

Activities in all areas of the integrated management system are supported by the involvement of employees at every workplace. In order to facilitate internal communication, a system of team meetings was created. In addition, there are boxes of comments and conclusions deployed at Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A., thanks to which one can express comments on all management areas in an explicit or anonymous manner.

The purpose of the team of Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. is to meet the challenges posed by the changing external conditions, through the rationalization and innovation of the applied resources, enriching the Company's business profile, improving the methods of operation and integrated management system operating within Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. in the areas of: quality, safety and environmental protection.
