The Research and Investment Development Department of Grupa Azoty Kędzierzyn comprises laboratory units equipped with specialized research infrastructure. With a multidisciplinary team of experts and laboratories fitted with both standard and advanced equipment, we are capable of conducting numerous innovative analytical and experimental studies. Our work also focuses on the manufacturing technologies and testing of plastics. As a result, our Clients receive comprehensive support throughout the production process, leading to increased efficiency and high product quality.
The Research and Development Center (R&D Center) at Grupa Azoty Kędzierzyn enables the reproduction of production processes on a laboratory scale, preparation of materials for testing, and performance of advanced application research. Thanks to our extensive technical facilities, we are able to offer our Clients customized products tailored to their specific needs.
The R&D Center houses ten research laboratories, categorized into condensation, pressure, polymer, and physicochemical units. These laboratories facilitate organic syntheses, application testing of plastics, as well as analytical and physicochemical investigations.
Our qualified and experienced staff, comprising specialists from various scientific fields, together with our rich technical infrastructure, allow us to execute non-standard orders and respond to Client requests with precision. All research activities are conducted by Experts who describe and interpret the obtained results. This innovative approach provides Clients with support in solving specific and atypical challenges.
As part of its operations, the R&D Center offers laboratory services including:
We utilize a wide range of advanced analytical equipment, including:
The equipment of the R&D Center enables advanced R&D work in the development of new esters and bioesters that can serve as plasticizers. Laboratory facilities allow for high-level research in chemical analytics, structural analysis, thermal analysis, as well as essential physicochemical property testing required during R&D processes.
The Center is additionally equipped with a machine park that supports the complete plasticization process of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) — from plastification time testing, preparation of PVC dry blends, extrusion, granulation, to pressing of the final plastic product. The available equipment also allows for comprehensive testing of properties of plastics obtained from PVC and other commercially available polymers. All research is conducted in accordance with Polish and European standards.
The plastic processing workflow begins with the preparation of dry-blend mixtures. Data collected at this stage allow for the comparison of processing parameters of PVC compounds containing various plasticizers. The next step involves pelletizing the previously prepared blends. Based on the extrusion parameters, we can determine the optimal processing conditions. This is followed by the preparation of plastic samples for testing of physicochemical properties through compression molding or injection molding. The samples are then subjected to testing for migration, plastification time, thermal stability, and mechanical properties such as tensile strength and elongation at break.
