“Both investments fit the development strategy of our company. The first investment is necessary for our operations, the second one enlarges our portfolio with a new product, creates new workplaces and new expertise in the fertilizers segment,” said Adam Leszkiewicz President of Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. Entire Grupa Azoty will allocate PLN 7bn for investments by 2020. “All our investments have one common characteristics – innovation. Thanks to that we are able to build a strong position in the competitive market. It is highly important that we base our activities on the Polish scientific thought and Polish performance. In this way, we create innovative future of Polish economy at Grupa Azoty,” said Paweł Jarczewski, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty. According to Włodzimierz Karpiński, the Minister of Treasury, who was present at the ceremony, Grupa Azoty successively implemented investments in the last months, thereby proving that Polish chemistry becomes one of the most dynamically developing branches of the Polish industry and economy.
“Grupa Azoty is now a benchmark of Polish innovation, a symbol of industry not only in Poland, but also a symbol of Polish economy in the world. You assumed that you will allocate over PLN 1.5bn to the investment projects in Kędzierzyn by 2020. It is a big sum of money, so you have nothing to wait for,” emphasized Minister Karpiński. The new CHP plant in Kędzierzyn will produce 25 MW of electric energy and 140 Mg/h megawatts of thermal energy. This model investment is being implemented in compliance with all IED directives and environmental protection requirements. No wastes will be stored – they will be used for example in construction, road and mining industries. The first stage of the investment will be completed by the end of 2016, and the entire investment is meant to be finished by the end of 2019. The main contractor of the first stage of the investment is RAFAKO S.A. The contractor of the UAN unit, the second investment which was also commenced on Friday, will be PROZAP Sp. z o. o., one of the Grupa Azoty Group companies.
“Participation of the Polish companies in the creation of our key projects is extremely important to us. Through implementation of our investments projects, we show that we want to be one of the leaders of innovation, which is an essential element of our development programme,” emphasized Mr Adam Leszkiewicz.
